Growing up I drew nonstop and was inspired by Dali, Escher, Frazetta, Japanese cartoons, comics, and many of the old masters. Professionally I have worked as an illustrator and animator for Microsoft, DreamWorks, Nintendo, and other large media companies. I develop my ideas through a daily sketching ritual and was trained in the Flemish style of painting.
I consider my work as "allegoric narrative." Illustrating not only my personal daily struggle, but I also attempt to create a universal metaphor for the conflicts of modern life. Fodder for my paintings incorporate material collected from my sojourns to the cultural sites of Europe and Asia. Frequently including pastoral images that are juxtaposed with those of the electronic age, I attempt to present simple narratives constructed from complex ideas that work on multiple levels.
